My Approach
Relational
As human beings, we’re wired for connection. From birth, we seek relationships that meet our changing needs and desires. Yet even as we long for closeness, connecting with others—and with ourselves—isn’t always easy. The ways we relate are shaped early in life and often carried with us into adulthood. In our work together, I’ll bring gentle, curious attention to how you connect and disconnect—with me, with yourself, and with the people in your life. Through this process, you'll have the opportunity to build relationships that feel more secure, fulfilling, and aligned with who you truly are.
Culturally Considerate
The lack of culturally diverse representation in the mental health field can make it difficult to find a therapist who understands the complexities of minoritized experiences. Since the therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful work, it’s essential that your therapist acknowledges and honors both the similarities and differences between you. Without cultural awareness and humility, there’s a risk of feeling unseen or misunderstood—an experience that can undermine the healing process. Together, we’ll work to ensure your identity and experiences are not only acknowledged, but actively inform and enrich the therapeutic process.
Trauma Informed
Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with you?” a more compassionate and meaningful question is, “What happened to you?” Your experiences, symptoms, or diagnoses do not define who you are. When we go through trauma, it’s natural to try to protect ourselves by pushing painful memories and emotions out of awareness. Often, we seek temporary relief through things like food, work, or sex—strategies that may soothe in the short term but can become disruptive over time. In our work together, we’ll create space to gently explore and process these difficult experiences, so they no longer have to be avoided or carry power over your present life.
Systems Based
While our circumstances don’t solely define us, they undoubtedly shape how we move through the world. Our environments—whether historical, socioeconomic, familial, or cultural—play a powerful role in how we understand ourselves and relate to others. Exploring these influences can offer valuable insight into the ways systems and contexts have supported or constrained you, and how they’ve informed your personal narrative. In therapy, we’ll consider these layers with care, so you can better understand the forces that have shaped you—and begin to author your story with greater clarity and intention.
Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapy is an in-depth treatment that focuses on strengthening self-understanding, self-esteem, and agency through the exploration and understanding of:

-
thoughts, feelings, and behaviors
-
underlying defenses, wishes, and fears
-
childhood and past experiences
-
meaningful relationships
Knowing yourself intimately is foundational to social, emotional, and even physical well-being. You might feel lost and helpless when you aren't aware of the whats, whys, and hows behind what makes you, you. By analyzing the complexities of your experiences, we're able to gain a deeper understanding of how conscious and unconscious dynamics impact your life.
